The Health Ministry of Fiji has announced that there are currently no confirmed cases of Mpox in the country.
In an evening statement, the ministry confirmed that laboratory testing for suspected Mpox cases can be conducted at the Fiji Centre for Disease Control (CDC).
The ministry urges anyone experiencing symptoms such as fever, body aches, and a blistering rash, especially after international travel, to seek medical assistance promptly.
Additionally, Mpox is classified as a notifiable disease in Fiji, and all healthcare professionals are reminded of the importance of early notification to the Health Ministry to help prevent and control potential outbreaks.
The ministry will continue its surveillance efforts for the early detection of cases, monitor global developments, and work in collaboration with the World Health Organization and other agencies to adapt its response as needed.
