The Pacific Recycling Foundation (PRF) and Tourism Fiji have launched a three-year collaboration focused on promoting sustainable tourism and environmental responsibility.
Amitesh Deo, the founder of PRF, underscored the importance of this partnership in developing a circular economy and enhancing environmental stewardship. The collaboration will feature the I-Recycle program, which aims to boost recycling efforts in key tourist areas and tackle litter problems to foster a cleaner environment.
Leigh Howard, the Chief Operating Officer of Tourism Fiji, voiced pride in incorporating sustainability into the visitor experience, ensuring that Fiji maintains its reputation as a world-class destination committed to environmental conservation.
Additionally, a Visitor Carbon Footprint Program will encourage tourists to adopt eco-friendly practices and offset their carbon emissions during their time in Fiji.
This initiative marks PRF’s first long-term project following its strategic planning in March 2024, highlighting the critical role of recycling and sustainability in Fiji’s tourism industry and local communities.
