Fiji’s Governance Strengthened with Key Reappointments

The Public Service Commission, in agreement with the Prime Minister, has confirmed the reappointment of six Permanent Secretaries to lead their respective ministries into the upcoming phase of growth and development.

Chairman of the PSC, Luke Rokovada, noted that the decision to reappoint these officials followed an extensive recruitment process. The Commission determined that the six Permanent Secretaries are well-equipped to continue their leadership roles, thanks to their in-depth understanding of their ministries, proven track records, and strong visions for the future.

Mr. Pita Tagicakirewa has been reappointed as Permanent Secretary for I-Taukei Affairs, Culture, Heritage and Arts until November 2025.

Ms. Seema Sharma will continue as Permanent Secretary for Local Government until December 2025.

Mr. Yogesh Karan has been reappointed as Permanent Secretary for Multi-Ethnic Affairs and the Sugar Industry until December 2025.

Mr. Shaheen Ali will remain as Permanent Secretary for Trade, Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises, and Communications until December 2025.

Ms. Susan Kiran has been reappointed as Secretary to the Cabinet until June 2026 and has also taken on the role of Permanent Secretary for Information, effective September 2, 2024.

Dr. Raijeli Taga has been reappointed as Permanent Secretary for Lands and Mineral Resources, with plans for her reassignment to a new Ministry starting in October 2024.

Chairman Rokovada emphasized that all reappointed Permanent Secretaries are Fijian nationals, highlighting Fiji’s growing talent pool and the Civil Service’s ability to attract and retain high-quality individuals.
