Fiji’s Game Plan: Boosting Economy Through Wellness Tourism and Sporting Events

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism Viliame Gavoka has reiterated the Coalition Government’s commitment to leveraging high-impact events to stimulate the economy and support Fiji’s tourism development objectives.

During the Spartan 2024 Business Launch in Sabeto, Gavoka emphasized the Spartan event as not only a sporting challenge but also a key element in the government’s strategy to enhance Fiji’s standing in Wellness Tourism.

He reflected on last year’s Spartan event, which brought in an impressive FJ$6 million, noting its positive impact on local businesses. More than 30 suppliers played a role in delivering essential services, including transport, accommodation, and catering.

Gavoka stated that this economic boost aligns seamlessly with the Coalition Government’s efforts to encourage local economic involvement and enhance Fiji’s attractiveness on the global stage.

The event also provided substantial benefits to Land Owning Units and local communities, underscoring the inclusive approach to Fiji’s economic growth under the Coalition Government.
