Fiji’s Game-Changing Sustainable Tourism Initiative Unveiled

A new initiative aimed at promoting sustainable tourism in Fiji, which has the potential to benefit over 60,000 individuals, is set to be launched soon, as announced by World Bank President Ajay Banga.

Mr. Banga disclosed this information during his discussions with stakeholders while visiting the Nuffield Health Clinic in Tamavua. He emphasized that the World Bank is eager to collaborate with Fiji on various issues, including healthcare challenges, climate resilience, and economic diversification to create job opportunities for young people in the country.

He noted the importance of a dynamic private sector in this endeavor and mentioned that meetings with private sector representatives would take place to explore ways to enhance their efforts in conjunction with government support.

The sustainable tourism development scheme is expected to be unveiled either this month or next month, with the goal of significantly impacting the local economy and providing job opportunities.
