A group of former FijiFirst party members is in the process of forming a new political party known as the G16, with ambitions to participate in the 2026 general elections. This announcement was made by Opposition Leader Inia Seruiratu during a press conference at the Suva Business Centre, where he criticized the current government led by Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka for being chaotic and marred by scandals.

Seruiratu linked the formation of the G16 to significant political changes, especially the recent deregistration of the FijiFirst party, prompting these former MPs to reconsider their political futures. He emphasized their commitment to serving as a “loyal opposition,” aiming to provide clarity and assert their role as an alternative for voters dissatisfied with the present administration.
