Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade Manoa Kamikamica has announced that the National Development Plan (NDP) will guide Fiji’s development over the next five years and lay the groundwork for the country’s next 25 years.
Kamikamica emphasized that the NDP 2025-2029 is a crucial document that reflects the government’s commitment to resilience, inclusivity, and sustainable growth. He described this as an important advance in shaping Fiji’s future.
“Our Plan demonstrates our commitment to overcoming current challenges and ensuring that development is beneficial for all Fijians. It serves as a blueprint for economic resilience, empowerment of people, and effective governance,” he stated.
The NDP 2025-2029 is organized around three main pillars:
1. Economic Resilience: Diversifying Fiji’s economy through innovation and technology.
2. People Empowerment: Providing equitable access to essential services and encouraging civic participation.
3. Good Governance: Upholding transparency, accountability, and respect for the rule of law.
The Plan is aligned with both global and regional initiatives, such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the 2050 Strategy for the Blue Pacific Continent. It aims to establish Fiji as a regional center for commerce and trade, utilizing its strategic location and digital capabilities.
Kamikamica remarked, “Our advancement hinges on the contributions of every Fijian. Together, we will promote sustainable development and work towards Vision 2050.”
