Fiji’s Women’s Futsal coach Jerry Sam is calling on his team to increase their tempo in preparation for their upcoming match against New Zealand. This comes after a 4-0 victory over Tonga that did not fully satisfy him.
Although Fiji handily won their second match in the OFC Women’s Futsal Championship, Sam believed their performance lacked the necessary intensity and pace to compete against tougher teams.
“We had a bit of a slow start with the mindset that, you know, whoever plays Tonga starts off very slow. This is something we don’t want to happen in the next game, and we have to consider that,” Sam stated.
His frustration was palpable during the match as he moved along the sidelines, urging his players to intensify their efforts and generate more scoring chances.
He is confident in their ability and potential to elevate their game, and he is determined to see this come to fruition on the court.
The pressure increases tomorrow when Fiji faces New Zealand at 4 PM at the Friendship Hall in the Solomon Islands.
