The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has officially launched thirteen new websites, including a primary site for the Ministry and twelve websites for various Missions abroad. These redesigned sites are intended to be user-friendly and informative.
During the launch, Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs Lenora Qereqeretabua emphasized that the objectives of this initiative are to enhance service delivery and foster real-time connections between Fiji’s overseas Missions and their clients. She highlighted that the updated websites reflect the Ministry’s dedication to leveraging digital platforms to expand Fiji’s diplomatic presence, offering current and relevant information on Fiji’s international engagements to support economic development.
A notable feature of the new websites is the introduction of the “Fijian Diaspora Registration Portal.” This will allow Fijians living overseas to register with the Ministry, aiding in the collection of essential data for policy-making and support during crises and emergencies.
Qereqeretabua explained that the revamped website serves as a comprehensive resource for details on key initiatives from the Ministry, including the first Foreign Policy White Paper, Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka’s vision for the Pacific as an “Ocean of Peace,” and the establishment of Fiji’s Institute of Diplomacy.
Fijians around the globe can now access services such as passport renewal applications and bookings through the ‘Citizens Connect and Consular Services’ section. The enhanced features also enable them to contact their nearest Mission for assistance and schedule appointments with staff.
Additionally, members of the diaspora will be able to track updates and advisories from Fiji Missions directly via the new website. The platform will also facilitate feedback from users, providing them with an opportunity to suggest improvements to Ministry services.
The newly launched websites encompass Fiji’s two Permanent Missions in New York and Geneva, five High Commissions in Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, India, and Papua New Guinea, as well as five Embassies located in Indonesia, Japan, the United States, China, and the United Arab Emirates.
With easy accessibility, Fijians can now better appreciate the efforts of the Ministry and its global Missions. The new websites are available at www.foreignaffairs.gov.fj.
