Fiji has made significant progress in the latest FIFA World Ranking, rising four places to become the second highest ranked team in the Oceania region, now positioned 146th. This marks their highest ranking since 2011. The Bula Boys, coached by Rob Sherman, achieved this feat following a 1-0 victory over the Solomon Islands on October 10 during the FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
In the Oceania region, New Zealand has also seen improvement, climbing to 91st place, their highest ranking since 2016, after securing wins against Tahiti and Malaysia. Additionally, New Caledonia and Vanuatu each moved up five spots to 155th and 157th, respectively, thanks to their successes in World Cup qualifying matches.
Conversely, Papua New Guinea has experienced a decline, falling to 171st, their lowest ranking since 2018.
On the global stage, Argentina remains at the top of the rankings, but their lead has narrowed against France and Spain, which occupy the second and third spots, respectively. England, Brazil, and Belgium continue to hold their fourth, fifth, and sixth positions. Portugal and Italy have made slight gains, moving up to seventh and ninth, while the Netherlands and Colombia dropped to eighth and tenth. Germany has also improved, moving up to 11th place.
The next FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking is scheduled to be released on November 28, 2024.
