Mick Byrne, head coach of the Fiji Water Flying Fijians, is looking forward to wrapping up the year on a high note as the team prepares to face Scotland, Spain, and Ireland in a series of Test matches next month.

Byrne’s goal for the November tour is straightforward: to produce strong performances against some of the toughest Tier 1 teams, especially since these games will be held on their opponents’ home fields. He is particularly excited about the upcoming clashes, viewing them as a unique opportunity for some of the newer players on the team.

“It’s an exciting time; we had a good year, finishing the Pacific Nations Cup on a high note. The players have had a good break, and our Northern Hemisphere players are performing well,” Byrne stated.

He acknowledged that while the crowds may not always be hostile, their enthusiastic support creates an engaging atmosphere. Encouraged by the positive energy heading into the November Tests, Byrne sees these matches as a wonderful chance to unite the team and end the year positively.

“We have four exciting games ahead, playing against Tier 1 nations. This puts us in a good position to prepare for the 2027 World Cup, but more importantly, it’s a chance for the team to come together and finish the year on a high,” he said.

The Flying Fijians will face Scotland at 5:40 AM next Sunday at Murrayfield, followed by a match against Wales on November 11 at 1:40 AM at the Millennium Stadium. They will then meet Spain on November 17 at 2:00 AM at the José Zorrilla stadium and conclude their tour against Ireland on November 24 at 3:10 AM at Aviva Stadium.
