The November Test matches are a crucial step in the Fiji Water Flying Fijians’ preparation for the 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia. This was highlighted by head coach Mick Byrne during an interview prior to the team’s departure from the country.

Byrne noted that the current squad includes several experienced players who are nearing the end of their careers. “Some of them have played in three World Cups, and their legacy should be respected,” he stated. He emphasized that this is the perfect opportunity to introduce quality replacements in line with their preparations for the upcoming World Cup.

“We concluded the Pacific Nations Cup on a positive note and it’s essential to end the year with similar momentum,” Byrne added. He noted that the team’s international agenda includes four Test matches, with three against Six Nations teams: Scotland, Wales, and Ireland.

The coach mentioned that players based in Europe performed well over the past weekend, while local-based players from the Fijian Drua squad have been actively engaged in off-season training.

The Flying Fijians will kick off their tour with a Test match against Scotland at Murrayfield on November 3. They will then face Wales in Cardiff on November 10, followed by a match against Spain on November 17, and concluding with a Test against Ireland in Dublin on November 24.

In related news, Scotland Rugby has announced that tickets for the Scotland-Fiji Test match have sold out.
