Fiji’s First Open Heart Surgery: Affordable Care for All

Fiji’s only locally owned private hospital, Pacific Specialist Healthcare (PSH), is set to conduct its first open heart surgery. This announcement was made by the hospital’s Director and Chief Executive Officer, Parvish Kumar.

In a move to assist those in need, Kumar has invited individuals who are underprivileged and unable to afford the surgery to reach out to him at p.kumar@psh.com.fj. To qualify for either a fully free procedure or a significantly subsidized option, patients must meet certain cardiac criteria.

Kumar emphasized the necessity of having an angiogram and all necessary medical examinations completed prior to contacting him for the surgery. Patients can have their angiograms performed at any facility but should email their reports, along with any other relevant medical documents, for assessment.

For those needing angiogram services, PSH is also available to provide assistance. Kumar noted that he will work directly with patients to create a tailored plan for the cardiology services offered by his specialized team.

The operating theatre at PSH is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, which has been praised by visiting cardiologists from India for its world-class standards. The costs associated with open heart surgeries at PSH will be competitive with those in India and other locations.

The PSH Nadi branch is conveniently situated on the Queen’s Highway, opposite Nadi International Airport, while the Suva branch can be found at 107 Foster Road, Walu Bay Suva. It is important to note that cardiac services are exclusively available at the Nadi branch.

In addition to cardiology, PSH also offers a range of advanced procedures in neurosurgery, urology, obstetrics and gynecology, general surgery, and orthopedics at both the Suva and Nadi locations.

PSH is committed to providing high-quality medical care with the latest equipment to ensure excellent surgical outcomes and quicker recovery times. “At PSH, we value your health and well-being and prioritize prompt treatment to expedite your journey to full recovery,” Kumar stated.
