Fiji’s First Open Heart Surgery: A Heartfelt Offer for the Underprivileged

Pacific Specialist Healthcare (PSH), Fiji’s only locally owned private hospital, has announced it is set to undertake its first open heart surgery. This was confirmed by the hospital’s Director and CEO, Parvish Kumar.

Kumar indicated that the facility is keen to assist underprivileged individuals who may struggle to afford this critical surgery. Those in need are encouraged to reach out via email at p.kumar@psh.com.fj.

To qualify for a free or subsidized procedure, patients must meet specific cardiac requirements and have completed necessary medical checks including an angiogram. Kumar emphasized the importance of patients submitting their angiogram reports for assessment.

While patients can complete their angiograms at any facility, specifically contacting PSH allows for planning tailored cardiology services in collaboration with the hospital’s cardiac team.

The operating theatre at PSH is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and has received acclaim from visiting cardiologists from India, who describe it as world-class. The costs for open heart procedures at PSH are expected to be competitive with those in India and other countries.

The Nadi branch of PSH is conveniently located on Queen’s Highway, directly across from Nadi International Airport, while the Suva branch can be found at 107 Foster Road in Walu Bay. Cardiac services are exclusively available at the Nadi location, although advanced procedures in neurosurgery, urology, obstetrics and gynecology, general surgery, and orthopedics are offered at both branches.

PSH is committed to providing high-quality medical care and modern equipment, ensuring optimal surgical outcomes and quicker recovery times. Kumar stated, “At PSH, we value your health and well-being and prioritize prompt treatment to expedite your journey to full recovery.”
