The Fijian Cabinet has authorized a second reallocation of funds within the 2023-2024 Budget to cover over-expenditures experienced by the Ministry of Education and the Fiji Police Force.
A total of FJ$7.94 million will be taken from existing budget allocations to address these financial shortfalls.
This action comes after a previous redeployment in July, during which FJ$105.19 million was adjusted to meet extra expenditure demands across various government departments and initiatives.
The reallocation of funds is conducted in accordance with the Financial Management Act, ensuring that the government stays within its fiscal guidelines while addressing unforeseen expenses in these vital sectors.
This financial maneuver underscores the government’s commitment to efficiently manage its budget while supporting essential services.
