Fiji’s Minister of Home Affairs, Pio Tikoduadua, expressed a positive outlook regarding the recent arrest of a significant figure in the nation’s drug trade. He highlighted that news of drug-related arrests and discoveries is beneficial, despite it reflecting ongoing issues within the community.

Minister Tikoduadua noted that while arrests are a crucial aspect of law enforcement, efforts should also focus on reducing drug harm and consumption. This approach is central to Fiji’s National Counter Narcotics Strategy. He emphasized the importance of community and parental involvement in addressing drug-related challenges.

Additionally, Minister for Health Dr. Atonio Lalabalavu is anticipated to deliver a statement in Parliament this week regarding the developments of drug rehabilitation centers across the country.
