The Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission (FCCC) Board has officially appointed Pranil Singh as the Acting Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Joel Abraham, who recently stepped down from the role. Previously, Singh served as the General Manager of Regulations at FCCC.
Board Chair Cecil Browne expressed the board’s gratitude for Abraham’s significant contributions during his tenure, emphasizing how he strengthened the commission’s role in consumer protection and market regulation. Browne stated, “We sincerely thank Mr. Joel Abraham for his dedicated leadership,” praising his transformative efforts that contributed to creating a fair and competitive business environment in Fiji.
As Singh steps into the acting role, he will lead until the board makes a final announcement regarding a permanent CEO. Despite this leadership transition, the FCCC remains committed to its mission of protecting consumer rights and ensuring a well-regulated market.
This change in leadership opens a promising opportunity for the FCCC to continue evolving and adapting to the dynamic regulatory landscape, allowing for the introduction of new ideas and perspectives while building upon the strong foundation laid by Abraham. The FCCC’s ongoing dedication to consumer protection signifies a hopeful outlook for both consumers and the business community in Fiji.
