The FCCC expressed gratitude for Mr. Abraham’s transformative leadership, highlighting his unwavering commitment to creating a regulatory environment that emphasizes fairness, consumer protection, and economic integrity within Fiji and the broader Asia-Pacific region. Under his guidance, the commission focused heavily on safeguarding consumers against unfair business practices and enforcing a robust competition and consumer protection framework.

During his tenure, the FCCC has significantly enhanced its capacity and effectiveness, achieving national and international recognition as a trusted authority in competition regulation. One notable achievement was the establishment of the Pacific Islands Network of Competition, Consumer Protection, and Economic Regulators (PINCCER), a collaborative initiative that has bolstered regional cooperation and elevated regulatory standards across the Pacific.

Abraham was also known for promoting employee-centered initiatives, such as the iCARE program, sustainability efforts, and flexible working arrangements. His strategic vision contributed to improvements in the FCCC’s infrastructure and resource management, positioning the commission for future success.

The FCCC has received numerous accolades during his leadership, including the Fiji Business Excellence Awards and the National Green Sustainability Award, further solidifying its reputation as a leading regulatory body in the region. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, Manoa Kamikamica, acknowledged Mr. Abraham’s impact, stating, “Consumers are better off today because of Mr. Abraham’s leadership.” He emphasized that Abraham’s dedication has inspired collaboration across the Pacific and set the groundwork for a robust regulatory framework focused on consumer protection and sustainability.

Commission Chair Isikeli Tikoduadua praised Mr. Abraham’s commitment to fair competition and consumer protection, calling it transformative for the FCCC. “His legacy will continue to uplift and protect Fijian consumers for years to come,” he remarked.

As he looks to the future, Mr. Abraham indicated plans to take on a regional role, reflecting his ongoing commitment to enhancing consumer rights and regulatory practices across the Pacific.

In summary, Mr. Abraham’s departure marks the end of a significant era for the FCCC, characterized by strides in consumer protection and regional cooperation. His legacy serves as a strong foundation for continued progress in safeguarding the rights of consumers in Fiji.

This transition, while bittersweet, opens opportunities for new leadership to build upon his successes, fostering a spirit of innovation and collaboration in the regulatory landscape.
