Fiji’s Epic Homecoming Concert Draws Massive Crowd and Boosts Local Economy!

Nadi experienced a thrilling atmosphere over the weekend as thousands of Fijians and international visitors gathered at King Charles Park for the George ‘Fiji’ Veikoso Homecoming concert on Saturday and Sunday nights.

Hotels and accommodations in the Nadi region reported full occupancy, with local business owners declaring the weekend one of the busiest periods in the town’s history.

The concert featured a mix of local and international talent, including artists like J Boog, Josh Tatofi, Maoli, and George ‘Fiji’ Veikoso.

Saliceni Raiwalui, chairperson of the Nadi Town Council and special administrator, remarked that this was one of the largest events the town has ever hosted.

“I am 75 years old now, and I have never seen a crowd as large as this homecoming concert,” Mr. Raiwalui noted.

He expressed gratitude that Nadi was selected to host such a significant event, commenting on the positive impact it had on local businesses, including happiness among taxi drivers and full hotels and resorts.

Brent Hill, CEO of Tourism Fiji, stated that September is typically a busy month, and the concert added to a fruitful period for tourism in Fiji.

“The event certainly generated flights and hotel bookings, and it’s fantastic to see,” Mr. Hill said.

He expressed a desire to collaborate with music promoters to attract more music events to Fiji, highlighting music tourism’s proven effectiveness in driving tourism alongside sports and adventure.

Vude Queen Laisa Vulakoro, a local artist who attended the concert, shared her excitement, stating, “Everything was just amazing. They had my dream stage and dream sound. All was just amazing.”

Cabinet Ministers present at the event included Deputy Prime Minister Manoa Kamikamica and Minister for Health Dr. Atonio Lalabalavu.
