Fiji’s Education Revolution: Are Head Teachers Ready to Lead?

The Fiji Head Teachers Association has been urged to develop practical strategies to enhance children’s learning and improve education in Fiji. Education Minister Aseri Radrodro made this statement during the opening of the 41st Fiji Head Teachers Association Conference at the Sheraton Fiji Golf and Beach Resort in Denarau.

Mr. Radrodro emphasized the importance of creating an environment that inspires and fosters innovative thinking in children, enabling them to become solution-oriented leaders for the future. He encouraged educators to bridge the divide between traditional methods and modern innovations, highlighting the need to empower students to become independent thinkers.

He stressed that teamwork is essential for social cohesion, and to achieve this, it is necessary to shape children’s characters, instilling a sense of purpose, vision, and direction. The Heads of Schools were encouraged to extend their influence beyond the classroom, actively engaging with parents and the community to support children’s education.

“Be a transformative leader. The government has invested in your roles as leaders of your schools, and we should work towards creating an educational environment where every student can succeed, every teacher can thrive, and every community can prosper,” Mr. Radrodro concluded.
