Education Minister Aseri Radrodro has praised the Japanese government for its donation of $173,590 for the construction of a new classroom block at Sigatoka District School. During the inauguration ceremony held on Monday, he acknowledged the vital role the Japanese government’s commitment has played in enhancing educational facilities in Fiji.
“The new classroom block addresses the pressing need for additional learning spaces,” Radrodro stated. He emphasized that this development enables the school library and computer lab to revert to their primary functions, thus providing a more conducive learning environment for students.
Radrodro reaffirmed the Coalition Government’s commitment to collaboration and engagement in the process of improvement, highlighting that education is a key priority. “Investing in our children’s education is essential,” he remarked.
He called for a focus on quality education, which he outlined as critical for fostering economic growth and technological advancement. “To ensure children become successful members of our society and enjoy a better quality of life, we must prioritize resources, qualified teachers, adequate classrooms, and essential facilities such as labs, libraries, and recreational areas,” he added.
The new classrooms are equipped with 120 student desks and seats, along with three teacher desks and chairs.
