Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka announced that the Cabinet has approved plans to hold public consultations regarding the possible reintroduction of scaling in national examinations for both primary and secondary schools. In his statement, Rabuka emphasized that a decision on this matter will be made following the public consultation process.
The scaling system, which was first implemented in 1979 for the Fiji Seventh Form Certificate Examination and later for the Fiji School Leaving Certificate Examination in 1989, was designed to ensure fairness in subject equivalence. However, it was discontinued in 2015.
