There is an urgent call for action regarding the state of Fiji’s education system, which has reached alarming levels according to the Minister for Education, Aseri Radrodro. The ability to adequately educate the youth of Fiji is increasingly questioned, with visible repercussions already affecting society. A shining example of the positive potential within the education system was demonstrated by two primary school students competing for the top rank at Lomary Primary School in Serua. Their healthy rivalry serves as a reminder of the resilience and ambition that should characterize education, motivating students to strive for excellence on their own terms.

Abdul Kalam—“If you fail, never give up because F.A.I.L. means ‘First Attempt In Learning’”—it’s essential to view failures as stepping stones to growth. The upcoming school holidays present a crucial window for addressing these educational challenges and preventing the crisis from extending into the new academic year.
