Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has announced that the Cabinet has approved a review of the Education Act of 1966. In his statement, Rabuka highlighted that this Act is the core legislation responsible for the management and delivery of education in Fiji, and he believes that a thorough review is long overdue.
The review aims to achieve several key objectives, including aligning the Act with the current educational environment, addressing the changing needs of students, teachers, parents, and the wider community, as well as tackling any educational issues or gaps that have arisen since the Act’s last update.
Rabuka noted that the comprehensive review will involve a nationwide consultation process.
