Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has announced that the Cabinet has approved a review of the Education Act of 1966. In his statement, Rabuka highlighted that this Act is fundamental to the organization and management of education in Fiji and noted that a thorough review of it is long overdue.
The purpose of the review is to ensure several key objectives:
– Alignment with the current educational landscape
– Addressing the changing needs of students, teachers, parents, and the wider community
– Tackling educational challenges or gaps that may have arisen since the Act’s last update.
Rabuka emphasized that the review will involve a comprehensive nationwide consultation process.
