Fiji’s Economic Boost: How Spartan 2024 is Transforming Tourism

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism Viliame Gavoka has reiterated the commitment of the Coalition Government to leverage high-impact events as a means to enhance the economy and support Fiji’s tourism development objectives.

During the Spartan 2024 Business Launch held in Sabeto, Gavoka emphasized the significance of the Spartan event not only as a sporting challenge but also as a key element in the government’s strategy to enhance Fiji’s reputation in Wellness Tourism.

He reflected on the success of last year’s Spartan event, which generated approximately FJ$6 million, noting the positive impact it had on local businesses. Over 30 suppliers played a crucial role by offering vital services including transport, accommodation, and catering.

Gavoka mentioned that this economic boost aligns with the Coalition Government’s goal of promoting local economic involvement while enhancing Fiji’s attractiveness on the global stage. The event also provided substantial advantages for Land Owning Units and local communities, highlighting the inclusive growth of Fiji’s economy under the Coalition Government.
