The Fiji Police Force is reporting ongoing incidents of illegal drug possession, with marijuana being the most frequently seized substance. Assistant Commissioner of Police, Operations, Livai Driu indicated that the majority of those arrested are individuals in their 20s and 30s.

From the 18th to the present day, the police have registered eighteen cases across all five divisions. This includes operations where plants suspected to be marijuana were removed from a farm. While marijuana remains the predominant drug involved, there have also been instances concerning methamphetamine.

ACP Driu highlighted the positive response from the community, noting an increased demand for police-led awareness initiatives in partnership with various organizations. He underscored the necessity of fostering public trust, ensuring that police officers act with integrity and play a significant role in the battle against drugs.

Members of the public are urged to report any information by calling 917 or reaching out to Crime Stoppers at 919.
