Fiji’s Drug Crackdown Intensifies Ahead of Holidays: Are You Safe?

Authorities are ramping up drug operations in response to heightened activity related to school holidays, festivals, meetings, and conferences. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, has issued a stern warning to individuals engaged in the illegal drug trade, asserting that they will be apprehended.

Recent police raids in Kadavu have led to significant drug discoveries and several arrests for illegal possession. ACP Driu is encouraging the community to assist in the fight against drug-related issues by reporting any information via the hotline 917 or Crime Stoppers at 919.

The K9 operations are being bolstered by the support of the New Zealand Police through the Fiji Police Partnership Programme, which aims to strengthen the capabilities of Fiji Police’s Dog Patrol in conjunction with the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service.
