The Public Service Commission has rescinded the appointment of Pita Wise, the former Permanent Secretary for the Office of the Prime Minister, as Fiji’s Head of Mission to Japan. The Commission confirmed this decision in a statement, following Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka’s announcement that Wise was selected to become Fiji’s High Commissioner to Japan. The PSC took this opportunity to provide clarification on the situation and proceeded with the decision. Wise had recently resigned after serving more than 18 months in his role as a senior government official, citing personal reasons for his departure.
