The Consumer Council of Fiji is urging residents to report any incidents of animals being present in restaurants. This call to action follows a recent incident where a diner witnessed a cat eating from a food warmer at a local establishment.
In response to the complaint, the Council conducted an immediate inspection and issued a serious warning to the restaurant involved. The findings of non-compliance have been forwarded to the Municipal Council, which has initiated legal proceedings against the restaurant.
The Council encourages anyone who encounters similar situations to reach out through their toll-free helpline at 155 or via email at complaints@consumersfiji.org.
It is crucial for health and safety standards to be upheld in dining establishments to protect public health. Reporting such incidents can help ensure that restaurants maintain a safe and clean environment for all patrons, ultimately benefiting the community and promoting responsible business practices.
This issue serves as a reminder of the importance of food safety and hygiene in our social spaces. There’s hope that these measures will lead to improved standards across the food service industry in Fiji.
