Fiji’s Deans Quarter Final: Unmatched Excitement with Extra Safety Measures!

As excitement grows for the Fiji Secondary Schools Deans Quarter Final Competition scheduled for this weekend, police operations are set to increase to ensure the event is safe and free of incidents.

Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police Sakeo Raikaci has announced that spectators, participants, and the public can expect a heightened police presence at the venues, focusing on maintaining peace and safety.

“To ensure the tournament runs smoothly, we urge all stakeholders to cooperate with us so everyone, especially our children, can enjoy the games. We are asking all spectators, players, drivers, and parents to work together with us on Friday and Saturday,” said DCP Raikaci.

Police officials are particularly urging drivers to obey traffic laws and refrain from driving under the influence of alcohol, following the tragic loss of a student last week related to speeding and drinking.

“Our priority is the safety of everyone on the roads, especially after the tragic loss of a student due to speeding and alcohol last week. We want to avoid any similar incidents. Our traffic team will be deployed along with several checkpoints to monitor vehicle movements,” he added.

The Fiji Police Force will have traffic teams in place and establish checkpoints to closely oversee vehicle movements. Additionally, the police are ready to address any disturbances among spectators, an issue that has arisen during previous events.

Security measures will include the presence of the K-9 Unit at the entrance to check for contraband and ensure that no illegal items interfere with the games.
