Fiji hosted its inaugural Micro, Small Medium and Enterprise Cook-off, featuring 12 contestants from the food and culinary sector at the Paridiso Restaurant near Albert Park in Suva.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for MSME Manoa Kamikamica emphasized that this event serves as a platform for Fiji’s street-food MSMEs to receive the recognition they deserve and to promote exceptional culinary talents within the community.
Kamikamica remarked, “This is an exciting event that replicates the open street food environment found in various international locations.”
He added that the cook-off offers street vendors an opportunity to learn, taste, and share their food, while also acquiring skills from renowned chefs present at the event, enabling them to enhance their crafts significantly.
The competition allowed local street-food providers to showcase their distinctive dishes. The top three winners were Marauna Natural Food in first place, Bula Bites in second, and Samdhins Karahi in third.
