Fiji recently hosted its inaugural Micro, Small Medium and Enterprise Cook-off, featuring 12 contestants from the food and culinary industry. The event took place at the Paridiso Restaurant near Albert Park in Suva.
Manoa Kamikamica, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for MSME, highlighted that the cook-off serves as a significant platform for recognizing the talents of Fiji’s street-food enterprises. He stated that it showcases the incredible culinary skills within the community.
“This exciting event mimics the open street food setups found in many international destinations,” Kamikamica noted. He emphasized that it offers street vendors the chance to learn and share culinary skills with esteemed chefs present, aiming to elevate their craft further.
The Cook-Off allowed local street-food providers to present their distinctive dishes. The top three winners were Marauna Natural Food, which earned first place, followed by Bula Bites in second, and Samdhins Karahi in third.
