Fiji’s Corruption Surge: 26 Cases Under Investigation!

The Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) is currently investigating 26 complaints related to corruption that were submitted last month. These complaints were part of a larger group of 39 lodged in September, which were reviewed by the Legal & Prosecution Department.

Following this assessment, 26 of the complaints were identified as being related to corruption and have been recommended for either a preliminary or full investigation. In contrast, the remaining 13 complaints were deemed non-corruption related and will be directed to the appropriate authorities.

Additionally, FICAC has filed charges in two cases involving a total of four individuals: three males and one female. The charges include two counts of Obtaining Financial Advantage, one count of General Dishonesty for Causing a Loss, one count of Conspiracy to Defraud through Obtaining a Gain, and one count of Abuse of Office.
