Fiji’s Corruption Inquiry: Could Overseas Experts Join the Investigation?

The Commission of Inquiry into the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) may include members from overseas. Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka confirmed this possibility in response to inquiries from the media, stating that the inclusion of international participants is currently under consideration. He noted that the Terms of Reference for the Commission have been drafted and will be shared publicly soon. Rabuka indicated that the document is still being finalized. The Commission is expected to investigate the appointment of FICAC Commissioner Barbara Malimali as well as allegations presented by former FICAC Acting Commissioner Francis Pulewai.
