Fiji’s Corruption Crackdown: 26 New Complaints Under Investigation

The Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) is currently investigating 26 corruption-related complaints filed last month. These complaints were part of a total of 39 submissions made to FICAC in September and were reviewed by the Legal and Prosecution Department.

Following the assessment, 26 complaints were identified as having corruption elements, leading to recommendations for either preliminary or full investigations. Meanwhile, 13 complaints were deemed non-corruption related and referred to other relevant authorities.

Additionally, FICAC has charged two cases involving four individuals, consisting of three males and one female. The charges include two counts of Obtaining Financial Advantage, one count of General Dishonesty resulting in a Loss, one count of Conspiracy to Defraud with the aim of Obtaining a Gain, and one count of Abuse of Office.
