The Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) is currently investigating 26 complaints related to corruption that were submitted last month. These complaints were part of a total of 39 submitted to FICAC in September, which went through a review process by the Legal & Prosecution Department.
Upon assessment, it was determined that 26 of these complaints involved potential corruption and were flagged for either preliminary or full investigations. Meanwhile, the remaining 13 complaints were found to be non-corruption related and have been referred to the appropriate authorities.
Additionally, FICAC has initiated charges in two cases, involving four individuals, three males and one female. The charges include multiple counts of Obtaining Financial Advantage, one count of General Dishonesty leading to a Loss, one count of Conspiracy to Defraud for Obtaining a Gain, and one count of Abuse of Office.
