The Fiji Corrections Service (FCS) will no longer offer tents on loan free of charge for personal or community events. This decision, announced by FCS Commissioner Dr. Jalesi Nakarawa, takes effect immediately due to rising operational demands.

Over the years, the FCS has provided support to various community gatherings by lending tents for events ranging from small get-togethers to larger occasions that required tents accommodating up to 300 individuals. Dr. Nakarawa expressed that their officers have been proud to assist the community with both the setup and dismantling of the tents, contributing to the success of these events.

However, in light of current demands on resources and personnel, Dr. Nakarawa indicated that it has become increasingly difficult for the FCS to continue this service without affecting their primary duties and responsibilities. He also noted that the time and manpower required for the setup and dismantling of tents must now be redirected to meet essential operational needs within the organization.
