Safety is a collective endeavor that involves not just the Fiji Police Force but the entire community, emphasized Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police Sakeo Raikaci. His remarks were made during the Festive Season Inter Agency Joint Operation workshop, aimed at enhancing safety and security for the upcoming holiday season.
The workshop, held on Monday, brought together various stakeholders along with the police to strategize on maintaining peace during this festive period. Mr. Raikaci stated, “If we want a safe and secure Fiji, we must all come out and put our hands together to fight crime.” He underscored that ensuring security is a shared responsibility that extends beyond law enforcement, highlighting that everyone has a role in fostering a safe community. The primary goal of this inter-agency effort is to enable everyone to enjoy a secure Christmas celebration.
Mr. Raikaci expressed optimism that through collaboration, police and stakeholders can exchange important information to create a crime-free festive season. Additionally, Director Operations Senior Superintendent Kasiano Vusonilawe outlined that the operation would be conducted in three phases, concluding in February next year. The phases are scheduled as follows: the first from November 15 to December 15, the second from December 15 to January 15, and the third from January 1 to February 15.
This initiative represents a proactive approach to community safety, where collaboration can lead to a more enjoyable and secure festive season for all. By encouraging community involvement in crime prevention, there is hope for a crime-free and joyous holiday period.
