Fiji’s Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister, Professor Biman Prasad, will head the country’s delegation to the 29th Conference of Parties (COP29) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) scheduled to take place from November 11 to 22, 2024, in Baku, Azerbaijan. This decision was approved by the Cabinet following a meeting on Tuesday. COP29 will address various key topics, including climate finance, carbon markets, mitigation, adaptation, loss and damage, and ocean-related issues, among others. To facilitate Fiji’s participation, an interagency Technical Working Group, led by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, will provide essential preparatory support for the delegation.
