Team Fiji made impressive strides at the 45th World Chess Olympiad held in Budapest, Hungary, securing victories against multiple countries.
The Fiji Open Team faced a formidable challenge from Palau, but Board 1 Candidate Master Manoj Kumar managed to hold John Ranel Morazo to a solid draw. On Board 2, CM Rudr Prasad showcased his skills by outmaneuvering Junior Santiago Tan, while CM Ronald Terubea triumphed over Angelo Salvadora. Additionally, Yash Krishen Maharaj of The University of the South Pacific scored a win against Junior Manuel Mahor. As a result, the Fiji Open emerged victorious over Palau.
The Fiji Women’s Team also celebrated success, defeating the Netherlands.
In other matches, CM Ronald Terubea secured a draw against Shaief Chashawa from Suriname, and WFM Kieran Lyons managed to earn a hard-fought draw with Women’s International Master Gabriella Johnson of Trinidad and Tobago.
