Fiji’s Cabinet Unveils New Budget Shuffle: What’s Driving the Changes?

The Fijian Cabinet has sanctioned a second round of fund redeployment within the 2023-2024 Budget to cover over-expenditures faced by the Ministry of Education and the Fiji Police Force.

A total of FJ$7.94 million will be redistributed from existing budget allocations to address these financial shortfalls.

This decision comes on the heels of a previous redeployment in July, when FJ$105.19 million was redirected to satisfy additional expenditure requirements from various government agencies and projects.

The reallocation of funds is conducted in compliance with the Financial Management Act, ensuring that the government adheres to its fiscal framework while accommodating unexpected costs in these critical departments.

This financial maneuver underscores the government’s continuous commitment to budget management while facilitating vital services.
