Fiji’s Cabinet Takes Bold Financial Steps for Education and Police

The Fijian Cabinet has sanctioned the second fund redeployment within the 2023-2024 Budget to cover excess expenditures incurred by the Ministry of Education and the Fiji Police Force.

An amount of FJ$7.94 million will be shifted from existing budget allocations to address these financial deficits.

This action comes after a previous redeployment in July, when FJ$105.19 million was redirected to meet increased spending needs across multiple government agencies and initiatives.

The fund reallocation follows the guidelines of the Financial Management Act, ensuring the government adheres to its fiscal framework while addressing the unexpected costs faced by these critical departments.

This financial adjustment underscores the government’s commitment to effectively manage its budget while continuing to support essential services.
