Fiji’s Cabinet Takes Action: Funds Redirected to Education and Police

The Fijian Cabinet has endorsed a second fund redeployment within the 2023-2024 Budget to address over-expenditures faced by the Ministry of Education and the Fiji Police Force. A total of FJ$7.94 million will be reallocated from existing budgetary resources to cover these financial deficits.

This decision comes after a previous redeployment in July, where FJ$105.19 million was redirected to meet additional spending needs across different government agencies and projects. The fund reallocations are executed in accordance with the Financial Management Act, ensuring that the government adheres to its fiscal parameters while addressing unexpected costs for these critical departments.

This financial adjustment underscores the government’s continual commitment to effectively manage its budget while providing support for essential services.
