The recent amateur boxing competition in Navua has been hailed as the largest in the past year, according to Fiji Amateur Boxing head coach Cam Todd. What was initially anticipated to feature 25 to 30 bouts turned into an impressive showcase with a total of 50 fights, demonstrating the readiness and skill of the boxers involved.
The event took place at the Vashist Muni Memorial Primary School hall, hosted by the Kwaca Na Vatu Boxing club, drawing a large crowd of boxing enthusiasts and members from the Namosi and Serua communities. Coach Todd expressed his surprise at the turnout and the number of bouts, highlighting the positive trend in the growth of boxing in Fiji and the importance of capitalizing on these developments.
“The 50 fights are just amazing; they show how boxing is flourishing here in Fiji, and we just need to seize these opportunities,” Todd stated.
