Fiji’s Amateur Boxing scene witnessed a remarkable event, the largest competition in the past year, according to head coach Cam Todd. The anticipated number of bouts was initially set between 25 and 30, but the Navua event exceeded all expectations with 50 matches, demonstrating the readiness of the participating boxers.
Organized by the Kwaca Na Vatu Boxing club, the competition took place at the Vashist Muni Memorial Primary School hall, attracting a large crowd of boxing enthusiasts from the Namosi and Serua areas.
Coach Todd highlighted the significance of the 50 bouts, noting it as a testament to the growth of boxing in Fiji and the importance of capitalizing on the momentum. “The 50 fights are truly amazing; they reflect the growing popularity of boxing in Fiji. We must seize this opportunity,” Todd stated.
