Fiji’s Boxing Boom: 50 Bouts Captivate Fans

Fiji Amateur Boxing head coach Cam Todd hailed a recent amateur boxing competition as the largest in the past year. Originally anticipated to include 25 to 30 bouts, the event in Navua surpassed expectations with a total of 50 fights, demonstrating the boxers’ readiness.

The competition was held at the Vashist Muni Memorial Primary School hall, hosted by the Kwaca Na Vatu Boxing club, and attracted a large crowd from the Namosi and Serua communities. Todd expressed his astonishment at the number of bouts, highlighting the rising popularity of boxing in Fiji and the importance of capitalizing on the opportunities it brings. “The 50 fights are just amazing; it shows how the growth of boxing is here in Fiji. We just need to reach out and grab it,” Todd stated.
