Fiji’s Bold Vision: The National Development Plan for a Resilient Future

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade Manoa Kamikamica announced that the National Development Plan (NDP) will guide Fiji’s development for the next five years while laying a foundation for the next 25 years.

Kamikamica emphasized that the NDP 2025-2029 is a crucial document reflecting the government’s commitment to resilience, inclusivity, and sustainable growth. He stated that this plan is a significant advance in shaping the future of Fiji.

“Our plan demonstrates our resolve to tackle current challenges and to ensure that development benefits all Fijians. It serves as a roadmap for economic resilience, empowerment of the people, and good governance,” he noted.

The NDP 2025-2029 is organized around three key pillars:

1. Economic Resilience: Fostering diversification of Fiji’s economy through innovation and technology.
2. People Empowerment: Guaranteeing equitable access to essential services and encouraging civic participation.
3. Good Governance: Enhancing transparency, accountability, and the rule of law.

The plan is aligned with global and regional obligations, including the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the 2050 Strategy for the Blue Pacific Continent. It aims to establish Fiji as a regional hub for commerce and trade by utilizing its strategic location and digital infrastructure.

Kamikamica stated, “Our progress will depend on the efforts of every Fijian. Together, we will drive sustainable development and realize the Vision 2050.”
