The National Development Plan (NDP) aims for Fiji to transition from a middle-income to a prosperous nation within the next 25 to 30 years, according to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Professor Biman Prasad. The NDP 2025-2029 and Vision 2050 will be officially unveiled by Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka at the Grand Pacific Hotel tomorrow.
At the recent launch of Kimaya Fiji at Yatule Resort and Spa in Natadola, Prof Prasad emphasized that this initiative represents the government’s comprehensive strategy for nation-building and enhancing the quality of life for all Fijians.
He stated, “For us to achieve this, the involvement of women in our economy—whether in the workforce or in leadership roles—will be crucial for our nation’s advancement. The government firmly believes in understanding the concerns and aspirations of all community sectors.”
He highlighted the government’s efforts to engage in consultations, dialogues, and collaborations with various sectors, particularly the private and non-governmental organizations.
Prof Prasad expressed satisfaction with the progress made in these initiatives. He mentioned that the government has laid out a program aimed at fostering a favorable environment for businesses and supporting individuals, workers, communities, and farmers to harness their potential and innovative capacities.
