Fiji’s Bold Vision: Becoming a Rich Nation in 30 Years

The National Development Plan (NDP) includes a goal for Fiji to transition from a middle-income nation to a wealthy country within the next 25 to 30 years, as stated by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Professor Biman Prasad.

The Prime Minister, Sitiveni Rabuka, is set to officially launch the National Development Plan 2025-2029 and Vision 2050 at the Grand Pacific Hotel tomorrow. During the recent launch of Kimaya Fiji at Yatule Resort and Spa in Natadola, Professor Prasad emphasized that this plan represents the Government’s comprehensive strategy for nation-building aimed at enhancing the quality of life for all Fijians.

He highlighted the importance of involving women in the economy, whether in the workforce or in leadership roles, as a pivotal aspect for the nation’s development. “The Government recognizes the necessity of listening to and understanding the aspirations and concerns of all sectors of our community,” Prasad remarked.

He noted that the Government has engaged in extensive consultations and dialogues with various groups, particularly within the private sector and non-governmental organizations. “We are very pleased with the progress we have made in this area,” he added.

To foster a supportive environment for everyone, the Government has initiated a program designed to create a favorable framework for businesses, workers, communities, and farmers, enabling them to realize their potential and innovate.
